The Department of Geodynamics of the Institute of Rock Structure and Mechanics in collaboration with the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics, Wroclaw University of Enviromental and Life Sciences, the Czech Centre of Earth´s Dynamics Research and the Section of the Geodynamics of the Committee of Geodesy of the Polish Academy of Sciences organizes the 11th Czech-Polish Workshop on Recent Geodynamics of the Sudeten and Adjacent Areas, in Třešť castle (http://www.castle-trest.com) on November 4 – 6, 2010 (see the first circular).

Bilateral cooperation between IGiG and the Department of Computer Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa

On the 2nd and 3th of September there will be a bilateral workshop organized as part of the collaboration project between the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics and the Department of Computer Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa. The project concerns building spatial data infrastructures and geoportals using volunteered geographical information. The coordinator of the project for the South African side is Dr Serena Coetzee from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, and for the Polish side Dr Adam Iwaniak. This is the first of a series of workshops, which will be held twice a year.

Meeting of the Commission on Geospatial Data Standards of the International Cartographic Association (ICA)

From August 30 to September 1 the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics will be hosting a meeting of the Commission on Geospatial Data Standards of the International Cartographic Association (ICA). The Commission is chaired by Mr Antony Cooper from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) - Pretoria, South Africa. One of the members is Dr Adam Iwaniak from the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics.

2nd Conference Open Software for Geodesy

Today, in the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, in the John Paul II Hall, the second conference "Open Software for Geodesy and Geoinformation Science - New Trends and Perspectives" begins. It is organized by Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics and Polish Chapter of OSGeo. During the conference 29 lectures will be presented, including 4 foreign guests presentations from USA, Spain and Germany. There are about 150 participants representing public administration, commercial companies and science.

2nd Conference Open Software for Geodesy

On 13-14 May 2010 the Institute and the Polish Chapter of OSGeo hold the 2nd Conference of the series of Open Software for Geodesy and Geoinformation Science conferences: "New Trends and Perspectives". The sessionns will take place in the Jan Paweł II Hall in the Education and Research Centre of Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences.
